Works Biography
Born in 1946 near Paris. Lives and works in Vert, near Paris, France.
Alain Bertrand showed his talent from a very young age by copying the front poges of Mickey magazine or Tintin books. He spent his teenage years at a boarding school in Evreux in the North-West of France, situated close to an American military base. There he discovered American cars - Cadillac, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile and immediately became impassioned with the American way of life. After a first trip to the US in 1976 he discovered the universe of trucks which will have an enormous influence on his work.
Before becoming a full-time artist Alain Bertrand was an illustrater in advertising.
His art is influenced by the artistic hyperrealism movement of Norman Rockwell, Edward Hopper and Richard Estes, portraying the American way of life in the 50's, cars, planes and musicians of the 70's.
Exhibitions in Paris, London, Belgium, Portugal and in the USA.
